Community-Based forest management
Community-based forest management(CBFM) is the most flexible and easy way to engage the community in conservation. The approach needs few procedures to establish, it is less expensive and the community is able to derive more benefits through sustainable utilization.
Through CBFM the community is able to protect the forest within wildlife corridors and dispersal areas that will create a suitable environment for various wild animals.
ECOWICE is now supporting the community of Mkata village to develop and implement the CBFM. The approach involves Awareness-raising, development of Village natural resource committee (VNRC), development of CBFM plan, and supports the implementation process.
