The weltwärts program, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), offers Tanzanian young adults the unique opportunity to volunteer in Germany through a partnership between Environmental Conservation for Wildlife and Community Enterprise (ECOWICE) and ADRA Germany.
Program Overview
The weltwärts program provides young adults (ages 18-28) from developing countries with the opportunity to engage in volunteer service abroad. The program promotes global learning and intercultural exchange, offering volunteers up to 12 months of practical experience in development-focused projects.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers will have the chance to work on various development initiatives, including:
- Sustainable Agriculture: Support organic farming initiatives and promote food security.
- Education: Assist teachers, promote global awareness, and help with extracurricular activities.
- Social Inclusion: Work with people with disabilities to foster an inclusive society.
- Development Education & Communication: Get involved in designing educational campaigns, managing online communications, organizing events, and more.
Who Should Apply?
We are looking for young, motivated individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 28.
- Have completed secondary education or vocational training.
- Eager to work full-time on development projects in a foreign country.
- Open-minded, eager to learn, and collaborative team players.
- Willing to participate in training, mentoring, and intercultural exchange.
- Some knowledge of the German language or willingness to learn is an advantage.
- Committed to using the experience gained to contribute to development work in Tanzania upon return.
Key Responsibilities
As a volunteer, you will:
- Support host organizations in implementing sustainable development projects.
- Engage in intercultural exchange, learning from diverse teams and local communities.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops for personal and professional development.
- Share your experiences upon returning to Tanzania, helping to raise awareness about global development challenges.

- Travel to and from Germany.
- Accommodation and living expenses during the volunteer period
