Restoration

Deforestation is not only a threat to wildlife species but also human lives. Many wildlife species are now under threat to extinction due to the loss of habitat while climate change has affected crop and livestock productivity in many rural people. In seeking income and food, the community cut down trees for making charcoal as a result suitable habitat for wildlife species has been lost. 

ECOWICE support the community to restore degraded areas while developing alternative source of food and income. The community is supported to collect seeds for native trees and grow them. These trees are the ones that provide food and cover for wildlife; others help to increase soil fertility, provide medicine and others provide products to sell (cinnamon).
