SUSTAINABLE FOOD
Unsustainable food production is one of the main drivers for deforestation and biodiversity loss. The community used to cut down trees for expanding farms, tillage practices, and the use of agrochemicals that has facilitated deforestation to wildlife areas and killings of biodiversity such as bird species, insects, and nematodes.
Soil conservation
ECOWICE supports the community to increase crop production through minimal tillage that helps to conserve soil organic matter and soil organisms
Pest control by organic practices
The use of chemical pesticides contributes to the loss of soil organisms and other species like birds and insects; ECOWICE supports the community to make organic pesticides from plants.
Increase crop area
Farmers used to grow crops randomly which results in low crop yield per area. ECOWICE encourage farmers to use planting line that helps to plant crops by following a line, therefore increase the number of crops per area
